# 7 Shortcuts to Keep Up with Your Google Keep Notes

We always strive to be more efficient in accomplishing our tasks. When it comes to working with Google Workspace, Google Keep is one service that allows us to keep up with our tasks. If you too work with this note-taking service by Google, consider employing these shortcuts to use Keep efficiently.

**Shortcut #1 - Open Google Keep**

There are multiple ways to open Google Keep however, the easiest one is ‘[**note.new**](http://note.new)’

Steps to open Google keep using this shortcut -

1. Open the browser
    
2. Enter ‘[**note.new**](http://note.new)**’** in the address bar
    
3. Hit enter
    

Note: Before hitting enter, make sure you are logged into your Google account.

**Shortcut #2 - Compose a New Note**

Follow the steps below and start composing a new note by pressing just one key -

1. Open Google Keep
    
2. Press ‘C’ to compose a new NOTE as shown below

**Shortcut #3 - Compose a New List**

Like a new note, compose a new list by pressing just one key i.e., ‘L’

Steps to create a List -

1. Open Google Keep
    
2. Press ‘L’ to compose a new List as shown below

Let’s create a new list of students. Also, the note we created previously can be transformed into a list of students by using Ctrl + Shift + 8.

**Shortcut #4 - Indent a List**

Indenting a list in Google Keep is a cakewalk. Use ‘**CTRL + \]**’ to indent our list of students that we created earlier.

Add headings (Format &gt; Paragraph styles) and they will appear in your table of contents.

Steps to segregate names of the students -

1. Click the first name under Grade 1 i.e., Andrea
    
2. Press ‘**CTRL + \]**’
    
3. Andrea is indented under Grade 1 as shown below

Use ‘**CTRL + \]**’ to indent other names as well

Indenting made a clear differentiation between students belong to Grade 1 and Grade 2.

**Shortcut #5 - Rearranging Lists**

To move lists up and down, follow the below steps:

1. Open the Note
    
2. Select the list that needs to be moved
    
3. Use Shift+N to move Grade1 down

**Shortcut #6 - Adding a label**

Labels make it quite easy to sort notes in Keep. We can use ‘#’ to create labels instead of ‘Add label’ option.

Steps to create labels using ‘#’ -

1. Click anywhere in the note (make sure nothing is selected)
    
2. Type ‘#’ followed by the name of the label to be created e.g., test in the below image

Follow the below steps and add ‘test’ label to any of your notes.

1. Open a Note
    
2. Type #
    
3. Choose ‘test’ from the list of existing labels
    

**Shortcut #7 -  Archive a Note**

At times, having too many notes can be overwhelming, so just hide it from the main view. You can do it with the archive option. To archive a note, select it and **press the ‘e’ key.**

Steps to archive a note -

1. Select a note
    
2. Press ‘E’
    
3. The note will be added to the ‘Archive’ folder
